A selection of classes run at a range of times throughout the week, including weekday mornings, evenings and weekends. The classes are 2 hours long and are categorised according to levels of experience.
The first stage is the ‘Planning Session’ where new students will meet Venetia and have a tour of the studio space. Continuing students are to attend one of these sessions each time they begin a new project to plan and design their project according to the student’s timeframe and skill set. Prospective Students are welcome to visit during these sessions. Students with no jewellery making experience or those who need a refresher will attend one ‘Beginner’s Intro’ class which includes an in-depth tour and safety demonstration of the tools and machines in the studio and a Practice Project consisting of a number of basic skills including saw-piercing, drilling, filing and polishing. Once completed the student then moves to a ‘General’ class where they have the opportunity to complete a project of their own design. Venetia guides the student through each step of their project until completed. The student is then able to begin a new project by attending another ‘Planning Session’. ‘Skills Focus’ classes will be offered periodically and be dedicated to refining a particular skill. An allowance of up to 10 grams of sterling silver is provided for each project, additional metal can be purchased. Students can chose to work in gold if they prefer.
